2. Change in PAN data/issue of new PAN card
2.1 Duty to intimate the Change
Every person shall intimate the Assessing Officer any change in his address or in the name and nature of his business on the basis of which the permanent account number was allotted to him. [section 139A(5)(d)]
2.2 How to apply for new PAN card or changes in PAN data
Applicant may
either make an online application through website or
submit physical Application for changes in PAN data/ for new PAN card to any TIN-FC or PAN centre of NSDL.
Applicants should go through the instructions and guidelines provided in the application form before filling the form.
General information for applicants' Requesting for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data'
(a) An applicant can obtain the 'Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data' Form in the format prescribe d by Income Tax Department from TIN-FCs / PAN Centres, any other stationery vendor providing such forms or download it from the NSDL website (www.tin-nsdl.com). In case applicant obtains form from TIN-FC / PAN Centre, maximum of Rs. 5/- per form may be charged.
(b) The cost of processing the form is Rs. 60/- (plus service tax, as applicable).
(c) It is mandatory to attach proof of identity and address with PAN application. Changes or corrections desired in PAN particul ars should be supported by any one or combination of the relevant documents mentioned below –
(d) Applicant will receive an acknowledgment containing a 15-digit unique number on acceptance of this form. This acknowledgment number can be used for tracking the status of the application.

Communication
NSDL forwards the application details to ITD after digitization of the form submitted. In case of 'Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN data' the application request is forwarded to ITD for update of the database and after confirmation from ITD, a new PAN card is printed and dispatched to the applicant.
All the communications are sent at the address mentioned as 'address for communication' in the form. Applicants, specifying valid e-mail ID in the application, are informed through e-mail. Applicants are advised to mention their telephone number (preferably a mobile number) in the application. This ensures faster communication in case of any discrepancy in the application.
